I am proud to announce the availability of my very best and most original choral work to-date, a setting of THE CITY IN THE SEA by Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) for SATB chorus (divisi) unaccompanied, 6:40 in duration. I plan to complete a more extended version of this piece for orchestra and chorus someday. While I have made good progress on that version, it is still incomplete, so I decided to create an unaccompanied version without the orchestral introduction and interludes. I composed special harmonies and section endings to make the unaccompanied version stand well on its own.
You can view a watermarked PDF of the entire piece at the following URL. http://stanleymhoffman.com/Hoffman-City-in-the-Sea-unaccompananied-H20.pdf You can listen to a full synthesized performance at the following URL. http://stanleymhoffman.com/Hoffman-The-City-in-the-Sea-unaccompanied-version.mp3
If you have the free Scorch plug-in from Sibelius.com you can look at and listen to the entire score at the following URL.
I am looking for a first-rate chorus to give this challenging work its world premiere performance. Any takers?
Thank you for your time and attention. I truly appreciate it.
Stanley M. Hoffman, Ph.D.
