Ellen Shuler, Director of the Bel Canto Boy Choir of Milwaukee, WI (http://www.belcanto.org/sing/boy-choirs), has just agreed to give the world premiere performance of “The Clock” for two-part treble chorus and piano on their Holocaust Memorial Concert on Jan. 23, 2016. They are also performing “Dream” by composer Diane Abdi Robertson on the same concert. Both works are settings of poems by the same writer, Abraham (“Abramek”) Koplowicz, who perished in the Holocaust at the age of 14. My piece combines the bell tones of the Westminster Chimes (“Big Ben”), plus the main theme of the Jewish High Holidays, framing original music in the middle of the piece.
